What started with donating 4 pairs of dirty sneakers turned into a mission! On April 1st, I launched GIVE SHOES: A Tennis Shoe Drive for Japan. Over the next 10 days, 15 local tennis facilities would join the effort by reaching out to their pros and members for help. I also organized a Goodwill Gathering, where we raised money for Soles4Souls and collected 289 shoes in one night alone! Because of the outpouring of support from the tennis community, as well as friends, family and kind strangers, I’m proud to say that we collected a total of 752 pairs of shoes!! Some famous faces who lent a hand, included actor CS Lee, Karin Anna Cheung, MMA fighter Yves Edwards, musician Bobby Choy, and even comedian-actor Will Ferrell donated shoes at his local tennis club! Thank you everyone for your contribution and for sharing the LOVE!!

    Japan Needs Our Help

    .
The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan has left over 500,000 individuals homeless and in need of basic supplies, clothing and shoes. In an effort to help victims of these devastating events, I’ve joined forces with a wonderful charity, Soles4Souls, and am reaching out to my local (Los Angeles and Orange County) tennis communities to ask for support! Please bring your gently-worn shoes to one of the participating drop-off locations by April 10th. I encourage you to ask  your family, friends and tennis circles to contribute to this cause. When you take time to RECYCLE your footwear, you are in fact changing lives!

This past weekend, I said “goodbye” to my baby and best friend, our 16 year old dog, Arizona. She was an angel of unconditional love and I can only aspire to be as pure and true as she was. As a way of honoring her life, I’ve decided to take my love for her and put it back into the world we once shared. So, for the next 30 days, I will spread goodwill and charity each day in Arizona’s memory. She has changed my life and my heart. I hope I can pass on the joy and kindness that she embodies in a small way. So I begin my own journey…30 Days of Love.

Share the LOVE! Follow my progress on Facebook or Twitter or begin your own “30 Days of Love”. Let me know your ideas, favorite charities and nonprofits, as well as your own journeys to make a positive change in the world.
